Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) is enabled by default on both Firefox Desktop and mobile APP versions, but it can be disabled, selectively or completely; so it doesn't interfere with trusted Web sites, like your PHPBB forum. Thus, it's able to act in the same way that Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge do.
Between Private Browsing and ETP, I think Firefox programmers have taken Internet security to the extreme. Users just need to be aware of that, but it's also probably something they'll find comforting, knowing their browser is working to protect their browsing activities from other Web sites looking for such tracking information.
To selectively disable this Firefox security feature from doing its thing, simply disable it on the site you're currently viewing.

- For Desktop versions, click on the shield icon to the left of the URL bar...
- For the mobile APP version, click on the lock icon to the left of the URL bar...
- ...and toggle Enhanced Tracking Protection to OFF.
